Fergal McDonnell  Associates


Fergal McDonnell is an Executive Development Consultant, with global experience in helping leaders grow. He is a leadership trainer and coach, and has built a reputation for his commercial and pragmatic, yet transformational approach to Executive Development.


Fergal's background is in developmental psychology, blended with 20 years application in varied commercial environments, with the outcome of helping leaders grow their effectiveness.  Previous roles include: Leadership Trainer at Cantle, a leadership retreat centre in Scotland for FTSE 50 Executives, and Head of Leadership Development for Ideal Standard International, RBS Group and Kingfisher Group (DIY Retailer).


Fergal is retained as Executive Coach to Ideal Standard’s Top 30 Senior Leadership Group. He also facilitates the leadership programmes for the company’s leaders and hi-potentials across Europe.  His work with Cantle has provided experience of training senior executives in some of Europe’s biggest companies, such as BP, RBS and Pepsico.  Fergal has also worked with Duke CE (FT & Business Week ranked #1 Global Custom Executive Education provider for the last 12 years), on their global leadership programs.  He continues to be a Leadership Development Educator within Duke CE’s Global Educator Network.

Fergal McDonnell is a leadership trainer, and owns and runs Winning Leadership.  Fergal McDonnell works with Steve Mostyn and Maggie Ellis to make executive leadership programmes to the classroom that inspire executives to change.

Fergal has a BA (Hons) degree in management strategy and his more recent academic background is in human potential psychology (NLP, Gestalt, EST, Bioenergetics and breakthrough methodologies).




Steve Mostyn

Steve founded Steve Mostyn Associates in 2009 to focus on Innovating in how organisations and business schools develop senior leaders.



Steve believes that you can only develop leaders by understanding the world of the executive. Steve is a trusted coach and advisor to a variety of corporate executives –  supporting them in their customised leadership development journey. He encourages executives to grow by helping them understand and act on their critical role to grow more leaders.

Steve is an experienced facilitator of senior leadership events, offsite meetings and leading strategy reviews.

In addition Steve is an active supporter and facilitator at Columba 1400, a charity dedicated to the leadership development of young people who come from ‘tough reality’ backgrounds


Previously Steve was Head of Executive Development for the RBS Business School where, since 2005, he led the development of innovative leadership development programmes for executives within the RBS group. His primary achievements focussed on the development of mixing academic approaches from the world’s leading business schools, including Harvard Business School, London Business School, IMD and Duke CE, to engage leaders working together on real issues. This has been strengthened by encouraging leaders to teach what they learn to each other and their teams. Previously Steve led Executive Development for Motorola University and was responsible for the development and deployment of the ‘Chairman’s Leadership Institute’ with Kellogg School of Management.

Steve Mostyn assists Fergal McDonnell, of Winning Leadership, to bring fresh and edgy in-company leadership programmes for management and executives.Steve is an Associate Fellow in Executive Education at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford in addition to his appointment as an Honorary Leadership Fellow at the Lancaster University Leadership Centre and a Visiting Teaching Fellow at Edinburgh Napier Business School and the Edinburgh Institute.

Maggie Ellis

Maggie is a Business Coach and Leadership Development Consultant, with a private practise as a therapist. She is founder and Director of Lifecentre charity. She is committed to seeing people continue to grow into their full potential at every stage in life.



Maggie has worked for a number of years with Fergal, co-facilitating leadership programmes that open the mind, relax the defences and energise the journey. She brings a unique edge to developing ‘leaders with a difference’ through the combination of her own background as a Psychotherapist, Founder and Director of a successful charity, business coach and trainer.  Maggie runs her own coaching and leadership development practice - see http://www.maggieellis.co.uk/index.html


As a UKCP accredited Psychotherapist Maggie brings to business leaders her knowledge of psychology, the neuroscience of the brain and her sharp ability to unravel and maximise human potential. As Director of a growing charity, she faces her own leadership and team learning everyday. As a business coach and trainer she has developed the most senior of clients one to one, worked with FTSE100 Boards, been brought in as a Consultant to realign teams of over a hundred people and at other times small but very senior teams that have become misaligned and low functioning. As a qualified teacher and with many years in public speaking and training, Maggie has the confidence to interface theory with experiential psychology in such a way that leaders go away having caught what they have been taught.

Maggie Ellis assists Fergal McDonnell in helping winning Leadership deliver leading edge leadership programmes and executive coaching.

Maggie has a BA (Hons) degree in History and Education as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. She is an accredited Psychotherapist and Psychosexual therapist (UKCP and COSRT) having trained in all the foundational psychologies to post graduate level: Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Systemic. She has also trained in Bioenergetics, NLP and Trauma therapy.
